As the weather progressively improves, we’ve seen an increasing number of people wanting to get back in shape for the summer. There are common requests to lose 20 pounds in 4 months, and to completely transform one’s self from sedentary to active.
When it comes to ambitious exercise goals, many people often misconceive the intensity of their new lifestyle. People are under the impression that they need to disperse all their energy and focus into their goals, in order to see change at a significant magnitude. When they learn about positive benefits of exercise, (reducing risks of hypertension, high cholesterol, cardiovascular disease, obesity, type 2 diabetes, bowel cancer, depression, breast cancer, and stress) they expect the results to show immediately. While high intensity training is beneficial to our cardiovascular strength, it’s important to think about exercise as a progressive change.
A) If you’re new to an exercise routine, try to make a monthly commitment to 5-10 minutes of walking or light jogging every morning.
B) If you already consistently walk, jog or run, try these following exercise programmes that can be done anywhere (via our Blitz Conditioning website):
Most importantly. have fun with your exercise! There are so many exercise types that you can try out: Zumba, Crossfit, swimming, squash, and of course personal training. Make it a goal to try out as many different workouts and challenge your body. Use the way children play and venture around all day, as an example of how to exercise. Practice mindful exercise, pretend like you’re doing things for the first time! This will allow you to re-explore your body and discover what you amazing things you are capable of!
