Losing weight is more complicated than eating less and moving more

Last month, I came across this article on the mis-math of weight loss:

http://life.nationalpost.com/2012/07/02/weight-loss-how-to-get-the-numbers-on-your-side/

I have known for a long time that the 3500 calorie per pound weight loss rule doesnt work in actuality. There are many more life factors involved

Clients often get frustrated when they cut the calories out and don’t get the results they think should happen.  This leads to some clients quitting their plan, thinking that it isn’t working (which isn’t true) Or they take the failure of the plan to mean they are not doing it good enough, which leads to decreased confidence and ultimate success.

I agree with the science of the article and think its it important for people to question the old weight loss math. This article goes to show that there is a lot we still don’t know when it comes to weight loss.

What we do know: managing our weight takes a whole life approach.
