Metabolic Workouts

What is Metabolic Training:

This methodology involves whole body, compound exercises done with little rest in between sets.  Metabolic training leads to maximal calorie burn during and after a workout.  You’ll be burning energy long after your workouts!  We use whole body workouts at Blitz Conditioning quite frequently but also use it in compliment with isolation exercises just to make sure we create balance and strengthening.

Who is Metabolic Training good for?

  • Cardio Fiends: Love cardio but hate weights?  Well lets make your strengthening program fun by doing a metabolic workout!
  • Beginners: Yes you can dive right into this as long as it’s adapted to your fitness levels, and the exercises are more basic.
  • Intermittent Levels: Stuck in a fitness or weight loss rut?  Tired of your old cardio for 20 min, weights for 40 min routine?  Yeah we’ve all been there.  Change it up!
  • People who enjoy a thorough butt kicking! Our Personal trainers have designed programs that have levelled even the most experienced people.  Whole body rules because the exercises hit multiple muscle groups in a short amount of time!

What types of exercises are metabolic exercises?

Here’s some examples that we use at Blitz Conditioning:

  • Squats (yes this is whole body!)
  • Squat Shoulder Press
  • Snatch
  • Alternating jump lunges (or just lunges for beginners)
  • Burpees
  • Push Ups (engage your core!)
  • Renegade Rows

Effective Metabolic workouts are also about timing so don’t count reps, do intervals and do as many repetitions as you possibly can.

  • Our trainers normally start off with newer clients using short intervals of exercise and long rest periods like 30 seconds of exercise, 30 seconds to 1 minute of rest
  • As you advance, shorten the rest period to 30 seconds only or 15 seconds and increase the exercise period to 45 seconds.
  • Circuit your workouts! 30 seconds of one exercise, 30 second rest, 30 seconds of another exercise… keep going!

When you’re doing this exercise methodology you’ll notice that you’re sweating bullets, your heart rate is about as high as when you’re running, and you’ll see some great results in comparison to your normal workout routine!
