Autumn Cranberry Sauce

Makes 8 (¼ cup) servings

Made with wholesome ingredients from your own kitchen, this homemade recipe is one you’ll be passing on to friends and family this Thanksgiving.

Ingredients

  • Juice of 1 large orange
  • 1 cup water
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar
  • ½ tsp. of salt
  • 3 cups cranberries
  • 1 tsp. orange zest, avoiding pith (which makes the sauce bitter)
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Preparation

  1. Combine orange juice, water, brown sugar and salt in a medium pot and stir to combine. Add cranberries, orange zest and cinnamon stick.
  2. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring frequently. Reduce to low heat and allow to simmer until the majority of the cranberries have popped, approximately 10 minutes.
  3. Remove from stove and allow to cool. Remove cinnamon stick.  Sauce will thicken as it cools. Entire recipe makes about 2 cups.
  4. Serve with Homemade Turkey Meatballs.
